Veronica announced that her second album is in the writing stage at her Apex show on Sunday. The project, which is called Entropy, is being composed in conjunction with a second project, as yet undisclosed. Guest musicians expected to return to the project include bassist Andrew Williamson (Crumb Catcher, Wolf Summons Baby) and guitarist Ray Piatt.
Veronica debuted the song "Shattered Glass" at the Apex show. The song, a straightforward rocker, was originally composed and arranged for Solo of a Caged Bird but became a B-side due to time constraints during the recording process. The version played at Local Bar, while still in its demo stage, is fully formed and offers a taste of the heavier nature of Entropy. Other tracks planned for the project include several that will make Entropy Veronica's heaviest and darkest endeavor to date.
Veronica DaVanzo is a Chapel Hill-based rock musician. Her unique and intense brand of rock combines elements of classic rock 'n' roll, electronic beats, traditional instrumentation, experimentalism, and classical music. She cites diverse influences ranging from classical composers like Beethoven to modern metal bands like Epica.
Since launching a social media presence in 2014, Veronica's most notable achievements have been over 70 live performances, her first original release, "Fly" - Single (2017), and her current project, an original album entitled Solo of a Caged Bird, to be released summer of 2018. Veronica debuted her first original works at a Greensboro concert in June 2016 and released a demo EP featuring the song that would become her first commercial release. During 2017, she played countless open mics at venues around the Triangle while she wrote material for her album. Alongside her own projects, Veronica is acting as producer for several projects, including a single for the death metal band Wings of Steel and a classical piano compilation, My Passion (2017), by her father.
"A few things are and always will be extremely important to me in my music career: roots, experimentation, and authenticity. I strive to create music that acknowledges where I came from, but that is not afraid to take risks and be something completely novel," says Veronica of her compositional style. "Music is my way of taking a deep breath and moving on; I can only hope that, in some small way, my songs connect me to my listeners and enable them to do the same."
